An old friend, Steve D'Accardo once told me a story about his fathers's aunts who would come over for espresso coffee at their home. He described them perched on the edge of the sofa with the tiny espresso cups. I never met them, but this is the image Steve painted in my brain long ago.

"The Italian side of my family is my father's. The ladies I spoke of were my great aunts on his side, Aunt Adele and Aunt Jessee. They moved to central California, Modesto, my birth spot from the old country."
